Where does the time go? Since I last wrote we've had snow and sun and thankfully it appears that there is no more snow in the forecast! It was about 20 degrees here yesterday which is above normals but there hasn't been much normal about our temperatures lately... The tulips are up (no flowers yet) and there are many perennials that have come to life. This is such a great time of year.
The girls were on spring break (Kaitlyn returned last week & Emily is on day 17 of 17 off today) and we managed one out of town trip as a family. We were at Fernie last Thursday - the girls were in 2.5 hour lessons and that gave Scott and I opportunity to check out the higher elevations. It's amazing how quickly the girls learned and after a short time they were riding the lift (crazy carpet - it's like a moving sidewalk up the hill), getting off it, turning their skies down the hill, sking down, slowing down and then turning to get back onto the lift. Plans are in the works for what to do next year. Maybe hook them up with some 1 hour lessons in the afternoon and again the next morning then we'll ski the day together.
The weather on the hill was gorgeous with only a little wind at the top. The sky was blue and the snow was fine (a little slow in some spots).
I've been super busy with Stampin' Up lately (http://jennifercrawford.stampinup.net) which is good; so long as I prioritize my time and my family doesn't have to wait too long for me. I'm on week 5 of a 6 week 'bootcamp' which is teaching how to grow my business and it's been tough! So far so good - there have been 4 people discharged so far for not completing their weekly requirements so I'm hanging in!
Speaking of Stampin' Up I need to get going on this weeks challenge!

We recovered from our last snow fall. When all was said and done there was about 2" piled lightly but I don't know what exactly the weather dudes would say we had. Today it's beautiful with a current temp of 17, yes that's on the plus side. I just checked my flower beds for signs of life and with exception to buds on the trees/shrubs and some quack grass; nothing. The girls and I started some seeds indoors about 4 days ago and already the zinnia's (well, 1) is up.

We took the girls rollerskating (indoor) on Thursday night and had a really good time. I was impressed with them because there was no complaining or 'giving up'. Emily wants to hold her birthday party at the rink. I can't believe she'll be 7! Kaitlyn will be 5 next month and time is going way too quick for my liking but I'm thankful that she's still a snuggler.

I was all set to have some excitement tomorrow by trying something some may think is over the top. At our lake (1.5blks from our house) there will be a polar bear plunge tomorrow and I was going to join in. Scott was too afraid to do it. I went to the lake today to get the details and the event isn't open to us though we can watch. Instead there will be members of the Calgary Stampeders, celebrities etc and it's a fundraiser for the Y. I'm bummed because I haven't done anything recently that some would consider a challenge and I really want to! Oh well. Scott offered to throw me in - he's coming with me if I go in, he just doesn't know that yet. :)

That's just too funny, and typical of Southern Alberta. After signing off on the post a couple hours ago I looked outside and noticed it is SNOWING! That'll teach me for getting all excited about green grass! Thankfully it has now stopped snowing and we got only enough to say it snowed. Crazy.
Wow I can't believe it's been 6 weeks since I last posted! Since then we've had about 20' of snow; okay so I exagerate a little... It doesn't matter anyways because overnight last night it melted; all of it. Our grass stayed pretty much green underneath and I think it may even be a little greener than our neighbors (for once)! They're snow birds so I was thinking of fertilizing mine today (yes, it's too early) and really shocking them when they return. Such a fun competition that we've got going - well I guess it's just me since they don't know about it (or maybe they do...).
While Emily was in school Kaitlyn and I headed for the backyard and while she played in the umm, mud, I came close to falling asleep on the deck. The sun was so warm on my face and I think I may have gotten a wee bit of a tan. Katie's cheeks are a little pink so I guess we're already at that time where I need to be keeping the sun screen handy for that fair skin of hers. I actually thought she got some new freckles today but upon looking closer I realized that it was just dirt.
We were at the zoo on Saturday and it was the first time that many of the animals were droopy. Usually the bears will be wrestling with one another and the hippo's and gorillas will be more entertaining but not this time. The only animals running were the lions (meal was being delivered) and the wolves who'd already received theirs and they were busy chasing one another away from it. Oh, I used the video feature on our digital camera and taped the bald eagle bathing in the creek. It was dipping it's head into the water and then ruffling it's wings / feathers all around.
Happy spring!

Happy Wednesday to you! Though it's January I've begun some Christmas preparation. I was so busy doing my Stampin' Up! demonstrator stuff (http://jennifercrawford.stampinup.net) that last year I almost ran out of time to create my own Christmas cards. Not this year! I decided that each month (except maybe the summer months) I'd make 5 Christmas cards and I started last night! I've included a picture of the January's.
As I likely said before, Emily attends Glenmore Christian Academy. Kaitlyn will be ready for kindergarten this fall and this last week she received her acceptance letter! We're hoping she can be on the same schedule as Emily was with 2 days/week and alternating Mondays. I think it better prepares a child for the full day schedule of grade 1.

Tomorrow is the day we move into our new commercial space. I haven't seen it yet but will head down tomorrow afternoon (after I use up some gift certificates to the spa! YAY!) and check it out. It will be strange not to have to juggle vans around to get my car out of the garage!
Have a great day!

I'm back! I couldn't remember my username to sign back in but YAY, I'm in! Life is good (and not just cuz I am back here either).

Christmas was good. We spent time with family in High River and Calgary and one of these years we're going to get those BC relatives to join us too! Maybe we'll meet in the mountains and make snow angels and snow persons together! That would be fun - and so relaxing. We'd come inside to eat and do puzzles and sleep.

Being on this leave of absence is wonderful. I LOVE spending more time at home. I'm so much more relaxed and the appearance of my house is testimony to that! The kids and Scott are happy to have me home. Working with Genesis (www.genesismedishuttle.ca) is going well. We're moving into commercial space Feb 1 here in Calgary but I don't think I'll have to work out of that office. My cell phone is my business phone so I'm not tied to a building.

I'm participating in a fitness challenge and as I'm not sure if after posting this it can be deleted this makes me accountable. It's been tough getting in the work outs since the girls have returned to school but I'm starting to set aside time by writing it in my daytimer. It seems that if it's not in that book it doesn't happen. I had to go to Gold's gym to get weighed and to have my body fat measured. The guy there says I really only need to lose a couple pounds and I assured him that there would be less body fat registering on his little machine when I see him again at the completion of the challenge (April). I've been eating much wiser but still could improve. This is about a life change and not a diet.

Scott is busy as usual with his 2 full time jobs but I am hoping that very soon as I take on more responsibilities with Genesis that he'll get a bit of a break (when I say so :)). He had a very good meeting with the Health Region yesterday and if all goes according to our hopes (it's up to God of course, this is HIS company), the business will grow in an additional direction and it has potential to be HUGE.

I attended a funeral this morning for a good friends' father. Many wonderful things were said about him. The family was close and they have good memories. It was said that yes, it's easy to be sad because on Sunday he died, but they choose instead to be happy of the 28+ thousand days he lived instead. Wise words.

Time to get the girls tucked in and to go locate the counter which is under the layers of paper on the island. I also need to make a birthday card to take to church with me tomorrow. Good night all.
