Las Vegas

The speed on the I15 coming south into Vegas topped out at 80MPH! With our concerns of where we might next be able to get fuel and our mileage Scott held steady around 60 instead. Again the topography changed and more varieties of cacti were added to the roadside. It was interesting watching the corn crops change in height the further south we went. The northern ones were about 5-6" (or they looked that way from the highway) but as we continued south the crops were closer to 18".
The girls had a great time in Vegas and the pool was their #1 highlight. The campground was very well done. We hung out at the family pool which also had cabanas, chairs, chaise lounges, a water fall (where the girls are standing) and many different types of palm trees and plant life. If only our climate in Calgary would permit this type of growth!

For those of you who know me, this picture won't be a surprise. Every tropical trip I've been on in the past 20 or so years includes a picture of a palm tree from the base of the trunk. This trip is no different. :)

These 2 Olympic swimmers gained much confidence already during this trip. Course, it doesn't hurt that they've swam all but about 4-5 days since June 30...

On our last morning before departing the kids both got up before 8 so they could go for a swim before we pulled out. This is not at all normal for them as they'd be happy to have slept another hour or so but not when waking early means swimming in this pool. The resort, Oasis RV Park, was gorgeous and had 2 pools; one for adults only (their area also had a hot tub) and this family pool. We felt like we were in the tropics while sitting poolside (or in the pool!).

I snapped this shot as we drove past. The entry to the parking lot was for southbound traffic only and we did the strip the opposite way and returned on the I15.

This 5' x 3' picture, completely made by flower buds/open flowers was on display at the Bellagio. The beauty isn't fully captured with this shot. Also in the Bellagio lobby area we found a full size ferris wheel, an atrium, the peace bell, a carousel and countless varieties of beautiful flowers.

These fellas are made of native grasses and are 'dressed' with flowers (mums). Very sporty hey?

Vegas is home to the M&M store where you can purchase nearly any color of the candy that you'd like.

The girls got a squeeze from Yellow M&M

You just never know who you might see on a Vegas street corner... Buzz & Woody!

No, we didn't take a side tour of the Eiffel Tower - this is on display across from the Bellagio! Also along the strip we found Lady Liberty, the Empire State Building & a pyramid!
